Ramgarh, Sept 13: The Ramgarh court of ADJ I Radhakrishna sentenced a rape accused to 22 years imprisonment during the trial under the Special POSCO Act. The accused Nirmal Kumar had raped a minor girl in 2021.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the accused which if not paid, will result in additional imprisonment of five years.
On the other hand, under section 506 of IPC, imprisonment of two years and a fine of one thousand rupees, under section 341 one month imprisonment and a fine of five hundred rupees have been imposed. The court has directed the accused to pay the amount of fine to the victim.
According to Public Prosecutor RB Rai, the case is of the year 2021 under the Patratu police station area. Accused Nirmal Yadav kept his neighbour’s minor daughter locked in his room for eight hours and raped the girl. She later reached her house late in the evening and started crying. On being asked, she told his father that Nirmal had raped her by locking her in the room. The victim’s father lodged a case regarding this in the Bhurkunda OP.
On the basis of the medical report of Dr Mithu Haldar including ten witnesses and the statement of the case, the court convicted the accused and sentenced him under the Special POSCO Act.
