Ramgarh, Dec 8: The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Shesh Nath Singh sentenced husband Bablu Munda alias Babli Munda to life imprisonment on Wednesday.
Apart from this, a fine of Rs 10,000 has also been imposed by the court. In default of payment of the fine, he will be sentenced to suffer simple imprisonment for six months. The court convicted the husband accused of murdering his wife under section 302 of the IPC on Tuesday.
On behalf of the prosecution, a Public Prosecutor, RB Rai recorded the statement of 13 witnesses after which the FSL report was submitted before the Court.
Presenting the evidence, the public prosecutor told the court that the accused Bablu Munda used to torture and beat up the victim to bring Rs 1 lakh as dowry from her maternal home. Poonam Devi was strangled to death for not bringing the dowry amount and hanged.
As per information, a complaint was filed by Anand Lal Munda, the uncle of the deceased Poonam Devi, at the Rajrappa police station against Bablu Munda, a resident of Chaha Kurum, for killing his wife and hanging her on October 30, 2018.
After the incident, the mother of the deceased was informed by her in-laws. The next morning, when the family members of the deceased reached the in-laws’ house at Chaha, they saw that the deceased was lying on the ground in the courtyard of the house and black marks were visible on her face and neck. After this, Anand Lal Munda lodged an FIR at Rajrappa police station.
