Ramgarh, Sept 20: Pradhan Mantri Nikshay Poshan Yojana was launched under the Open India Campaign on Tuesday.
The scheme was launched by the Deputy Development Commissioner of Ramgarh Nagendra Kumar Sinha, nodal officer of CSR Vishal Kumar, Civil Surgeon Prabhat Kumar, ACMO Dr Mahalakshmi, DPM-NHM Dr Devendra Bhushan Srivastava, DMFT to Pankaj Kumar, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Swaraj and JSP.
In the absence of nutritional support, malnourished patients with TB fall into a vicious cycle of worsening disease and undernutrition, which can be harmful and even cause death. Evidence suggests that nutritional intervention can prevent TB.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Nikshay Poshan Yojana, all TB patients of Patratu block will be provided with the required nutrition. JSP of Jindal Steel and Power Company is responsible for providing monthly nutritious food items to the patients.
The Foundation has taken up the project as part of its social responsibility. Patratu block has around 200 TB patients. Nutritious food items will be provided by the foundation every month for a whole year.
