Ramgarh, July 24: Rapid leakage of methane gas at a few places in Laio North and South Panchayat under Mandu block of Ramgarh district has been continuing for some time now.

On Saturday, due to a thunderstorm suddenly a fire started at a leakage of methane gas in Laio Karmali Tola.  A crowd of nearby villagers gathered to watch the flames. On getting information the management of the CCL Jharkhand excavation project reached the spot and they were surprised to see the flames. The flames kept coming out regularly.

Villagers alleged that methane gas continues to leak from the closed deep boring of fields including wells and handpumps of many houses of Laio. The leakage of gas can prove to be more dangerous in the rainy season.  During the rain, thunderstorms can catch fire at any time in the gas leak area and people can die. Villagers said that the CCL management is not taking good steps to stop the gas leak in the area. Management is playing with the lives of the people here.
