Ramgarh: A commemoration day program was organized at Ramgarh Police Line on Friday morning where police officers paid tribute to the martyred police personnel. Ramgarh Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey was also present in the program.
The jawans paid tribute to the martyred policemen by using a reverse rifle. Addressing on this occasion, the SP said, “Every year on October 21, we celebrate Commemoration Day and tribute is paid to the martyred policemen. Today we remember policemen who made their supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.”
The day is observed as on October 21, 1959, a confrontation between the Para Military of India and China took place in which 10 Para Military officers sacrificed their lives for the defence of the country on the border.
The SP also said that in the last one year, two policemen of Jharkhand have made sacrifices in the line of duty. They are Arakshi 1531 Thakur Hembram and Arakshi 725 Shankar Nayak. “We salute such brave soldiers. We thank the people of his family who gave such a brave soldier for the service of the country,” the SP added.
On the occasion, police jawan Sudhir Singh was honoured who rescued a girl named Poornima from drowning while swimming in the Damodar river.
Headquarters DSP, SDPO Ramgarh Kishore Rajak, Inspector of Police Station in-charge Ramgarh Sushil Kumar, Police Inspector Vipin Kumar and other officers were present at the event.
