Ramgarh, Feb 17: An inter-class English debate competition was organised at Shri Agrasen School, Bhurkunda on Friday. Two teams from class XI participated in the debate competition.
The topic for the discussion was ‘Artificial Intelligence’. Both Team A and Team B had heated discussions on the topic.
Keeping their stand on Artificial Intelligence, Team A stated that AI can further improve the accuracy of any task while reducing errors to a great extent. AI robots also reduce our risks. Be it defusing bombs, going into space or exploring the deepest depths of the ocean, artificial intelligence increases the productivity of work. Humans need breaks and time off to balance their work and personal life. But AI can work non-stop with fast and accurate results. Even monotonous and repetitive tasks can be completed easily with the help of AI algorithms.
The team further said that humans are driven by emotions. They have likes and dislikes. But, AI is beyond emotions to make fair decisions.
Meanwhile, Team B said that the cost of building an AI-based machine is very high. Regularly updating AI with time and function is costly. Therefore, it is an expensive deal. The major drawback of AI is that it cannot think like human brains and so it will not be constructive. The use of robots and chatbots will also increase unemployment.
The team added that morality is an important human trait which can be difficult to integrate into AI. The rapid advances in AI have raised several concerns. If this technology becomes widespread, humanity may be at risk.
