Ramgarh, Sept 22: A woman was cheated in the name of cleaning jewellery worth Rs 8 lakhs in Saunda Basti of Bhurkunda OP on Wednesday evening.

According to information, two bike riders reached the home of Sudesh Prasad on the pretext of utensils and jewellery cleaning. They said that they can clean and polish brass and copper utensils. At first, the family refused to take their services but they somehow convinced the victim woman Prabha Devi for it.

Prabha Devi said they first cleaned the utensils and then asked her if she wanted her gold jewellery to be cleaned too. As she agreed, they took the ornaments including gold rings, earrings and chains and put them in a tiffin box with white powder and water. Later, they asked Prabha for turmeric powder and said she needs to boil the contents of the box. When she took the box into her kitchen, the thugs followed her and trapped her in talks.

When a male family member asked them about the gold, they said it will take 10 minutes for them to be cleaned. But after a few minutes, they took the jewellery out of the box and fled from the house.

However, during the escape, the picture of both the miscreants was captured on the CCTV installed in the locality and the police are trying to find both the miscreants.

A complaint has been registered in this regard at the local police station. The police are trying to identify the culprits based on CCTV footage.
