Ranchi, July 26: 133 battalion of CRPF deployed in Jharkhand’s forest area for anti-naxal operations on Wednesday observed CRPF Raising Day by giving a message of a green and clean environment.

The battalion jawans under the leadership of its commandant Amit Kumar and other senior officers planted fruit-bearing and local trees in its camps located at Dhurwa, Sarjamdih, Maranghad and Piyakuli.

Martyrs were paid tribute on the occasion. A sports event was also organised and its winners were awarded. Locals were also present during the programme to express their solidarity with the largest central armed police which came into existence in 1939.

One of the foremost central police forces in India, CRPF is amongst the most gallant security forces. These forces have been since the imperial rule of the Britishers and were known as Crown Representative’s Police. Soon after India’s independence from the shackle of the colonial raj, it got its name, Central Reserve Police Force with the enactment of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949.

CRPF officially works under the Ministry of Home Affairs. It essentially functions for all states and union territories alike. The force’s job is to maintain law and order in the subcontinent and by the virtue of it, they combat insurgencies and act as rescue forces whenever required.
