Ranchi admin steps up security for New Year’s eve, deploy 4,000 cops across city

Ranchi, Dec 31: Picnic spots and New Year celebration venues across the capital district will remain under the surveillance of over 4,000 police personnel from 9 pm tonight.

SP (rural) Naushad Alam, who also has additional charge of SP (city), stated Lagatar24.com that one team of police personnel will begin their duties at 9 pm today when people from various sections of the city will begin approaching renowned hotels and clubs for midnight celebrations. Another staff will begin doing duties at 6 am when people begin to arrive at picnic locations.

“Direction has been given for regular patrolling to ensure that no untoward occurrence took place during New Year festivities. At a popular picnic location, magistrates have also been delegated,” Alam stated.

According to police personnel, magistrates have been delegated to 26 locations in the Ranchi district. The places include Rock Garden and Kanke Dam in the Kanke area and Sido-Kanhu Park in the Morabadi area. Other locations include Machli Ghar and Nakshatra Van near Raj Bhavan beside Hatia Dam in Dhurwa. 

The list of places also includes Hundru Fall, Dassam fall and Deori Temple besides Sun Temple in Bundu, Jonah Fall in Angada, Getalsud Dam in Angada, Sita Fall in Angada, Gautam Dhara in Angada, Rukka Dam in Ormanjhi, Oxygen Park in Morabadi ground. 

Birsa Munda Park in the old Jail Campus, Subarnarekha River, Crocodile Breeding Centre in Muta, Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park in Ormanjhi, Fun Castle Park in Ratu, Shrikrishna Park in Doranda, Pahari Mandir (upper/lower part), Tagore Hill, Dhurva Dam, and Pithoria Valley are among the other locations.

The police officials said out of 4,000 police personnel who will ensure security, 1,500 have been called from other districts. Apart from this, the police official said women’s security special squad, Shakti Commandos, have been deployed in the parks inside the city. Near water bodies where people go for picnics, NDRF teams and divers have been deployed.

Another police official said an appeal has been made to the people not to take selfies in dangerous places and not to bathe in drowning areas. For this, special attention will be kept to these areas.

District collector officials said on the instructions of deputy commissioner Rahul Kumar Sinha, arrangements for the fire brigade have been made at many places. Firefighting arrangements have been made at Angada Police Station, Ormanjhi Police Station, Dassam Fall Police Station, Pithoria Police Station, Ratu Police Station, City Control Room, Dhurva Police Station, Albert Ekka Chowk, Sikidiri Police Station.

The official said all arrangements have been made till January 5. At the same time, he said, four ambulances equipped with necessary life-saving medicines and equipment with adequate doctors and medical teams have been made available in the district control room.
