Ranchi, Dec 20: The Ranchi district administration has failed to utilise the beds prepared for the Covid positive patients in various hospitals across the district.

A rough survey across the district revealed that only one patient is admitted to Sadar Hospital Ranchi, out of 72 active Covid patients.

Ranchi SDM, when contacted for his comment on the issue, said that the travelers who tested positive are to be kept in institutional isolation according to the guidelines.

Notably, the travelers arriving in Ranchi at the two railway stations and airport are screened with Rapid antigen and RT-PCR tests. Upon testing positive, they are to be admitted in the isolation wards for which an ambulance is placed at the three locations.

However in the absence of police force at these entry points, the Covid positive travelers escape the location. Moreover, the magistrate placed at Hatia station is also unavailable from Dec 12.

Hatia railway station Covid testing in-charge Avinash Kumar said that travelers escape the station after testing positive as no one is present there to stop them.

“There are 6 police personnel at one gate but none at the other two gates. However, our team tries to test each and everyone,” Kumar said.

Ranchi Railway station Covid testing in-charge Divyana Khalkho said that the team members are active in creating awareness among the travelers and the maximum number of travelers give their sample for the test. However, he also complained about the lack of police force at the station to stop the Covid positive patients from exiting.

Magistrate Gopal Krishna placed at Birsa Munda Airport said that persons with only one dose are tested with Rapid antigen and RT-PCR.

“The persons with both the doses are also tested if the time interval between the date of travel and the second dose is less than 15 days,” Krishna added.
