Ranchi, Sept 9: Taking note of social media posts and reports in some of the newspapers showing an elderly woman being carried to an ambulance from the airport on a bedsheet and thus exposing the poor care of passengers at Birsa Munda Airport, the airport authority has clarified the situation.
Birsa Munda Airport Director B L Agrawal issuing a clarification said that the woman accompanied by her son and husband was carried on a bedsheet as her family members were in hurry to take her to the ambulance that they had already called.
Agrawal said that the situation arose when the lady fainted on a wheelchair provided by the airport management. The family had already called an ambulance from Pulse Hospital by then. Later, instead of waiting for a stretcher, the family members took out a bed sheet immediately from their bags and carried her.
The director further said that the lady being carried on the bedsheet was given proper support by the medical team at the airport, which leaves no stone unturned for the comfort of its passengers.
The director said that the lady had come to the Ranchi Airport on an Air Asia flight from Delhi, where she was provided with a wheelchair.
