Ranchi, March 1: A day-long special workshop was organised on the journey of coal on the concluding day of the three-day ‘Automation and Information Technology in Steel, Mining and other Manufacturing industries (AITISM’23): Vision 2035’.
The event started on February 27. The Computer Society of India (CSI), Ranchi Chapter had organized the programme under the leadership of its chairman Anup Prasad at SAIL Community Hall, located at Satellite Colony in Jharkhand capital.
While speaking on the journey of coal speakers talked right from its place of origin, a coal seam in the bowels of the earth, to its destination with the perspective of the steel industry, i.e. Hearth of the Blast Furnace.
Coal Science Inc. Highland, IN, USA, president Hardardhan Singh Valia, in addition to the journey of coal, also deliberated at length about the coal user value for producing high-value coke. He discussed various types of coal and detailed the design of coal for requisite metallurgical coke properties.
Introducing the intervention of technology, Valia took the audience attending the event through the use of innovative predictive models at every stage of coal’s journey, to ensure the quality of the process and the material.
An audience appreciated Valia’s presentation saying it could prove to be a game changer in the context of the steel industry in terms of producing quality iron and steel.
Presenters from across the steel industry also presented their ideas during the workshop.
