It was getting to 4.15 am when the incident took place when Kushwaha had come out of his house with his pet dog as a matter of routine.

“As the leader reached near a bush to allow his pet to relieve, assailants, who were four in number, opened fire and escaped. Hearing the bullet sound, locality residents rushed and took the AJSU leader to RIMS,” a locality resident said.

SP (rural) Naushad Alam confirmed the incident saying the victim is out of danger. “Kushwaha sustained a bullet injury to his right shoulder and out of danger.”
