Ranchi, Apr 9: Amity University, Ranchi organized a Blessing Day, also known as a Freshers’ Party, for the batches of 2020 and 2021 in an effort to celebrate the much-awaited official welcome of the students here on Saturday.
Welcoming the students, Vice-Chancellor Dr Raman Kumar Jha, expressed relief that after a wait of two years, things had returned to such normalcy that Amity University was able to celebrate the Blessings Day once again.
He mentioned that with the vision that students will accomplish all over the globe to motivate the students. “Amity University stands strong to lead the way in education. Amity is not just other universities, it means commitment, professionalism, devotion,” he added.
Dr Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity University stated the importance of teachers in a students’ life. He said we were not fortunate to meet in 2020 and 2021 as we were badly stuck with the threat caused by the coronavirus, but it is the blessings of the almighty that we are here to celebrate the blessings day.
Later, while talking to this lagatar24.com correspondent, VC Dr Jha said, “Amity is a storehouse of opportunities. Young people need education, entertainment, friendship, companionship, mentorship of teachers, exposure to the area of innovation and technology, in-depth research opportunities and much more, all of which are provided here at Amity University. Students should always choose Amity, wherever they are, as the university prepares them for all kinds of competition that they might have to face in future. We make them ready to face the world.”
Further talking about future plans, he added, “We are planning to shift to our new campus by the middle or end of the year. Along with this, we are also planning to offer medical courses to students along with developing the university into an international institution.”
University Director Dr Pandey said, “I believe in the words of Kathopanishad that say, ‘uttishata jagrat prapya varannibodhat’ that mean, arise, awake, and keep working till you achieve your goal.”
He further continued saying, “Students that join us are definitely meritorious, but shaping them and changing them as per the world, forming them into such professionals that are fearless, is what we at Amity University do. We show them the right path, as they have passion, flow, and speed, and if not directed onto the right path, they may venture into the wrong one. We believe in the ancient tradition of Guru-Shishya, wherein we as gurus are facilitators, inspirers and motivators. It is our duty to help them in choosing and shaping their own path.”
“Our ethos here is to enliven the tradition of Guru-Shishya and make them into something new with the upcoming opportunities and technology. We follow that legacy but also provide the best of technology, exposure and teachers and guidance. Our aim is to send them into society with not just qualifications or not just education but also knowledge and confidence. We wish our students to carry the human values with them and understand the actual meaning of education,” Dr Pandey added.
The day commenced with the Confidence Walk, also known as a ramp walk, for students of batches 2020 and 2021. It was followed by a ramp walk from all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the university. This was done to make the students aware of all the teachers and staff members of the university.
Judges that decided on Mister and Miss Fresher included Taponi Dutta and Shruti Shreshth among others. They asked questions like ‘Why do you think you’re fit to become a model?’ and ‘What do you choose between Trend and Personal Styling?’
Meanwhile, Mr Fresher 2020 was Arpan Khalkho, while the Miss Fresher 2020 was Aditi Thapa. On the other hand, Mr Fresher 2021 was Jayesh Kumar, while Miss Fresher 2021 was Deboshree Sarkar.
