Ranchi, Aug 29: Only 10.6 per cent of people vaccinated with both doses of Covid vaccine have taken the booster dose. The number of people administered with both doses of Covid vaccine above 18 years is 13,96,265. Yet, just 1,48,263 have taken the precautionary booster dose in Ranchi as per the government data on August 26.
Ranchi Civil Surgeon had earlier said that the booster dose is available in all the government vaccine centres for free across the district and there is no shortage.
“As the cases of Covid have started to come down people have taken it casually and many are yet to take their precautionary booster dose. The government is providing it for free and more people should take it. People will realise if another wave of Covid hits the city,” he said.
He added that the media’s role is crucial in making people aware of the vaccine availability.
“Like we all know that it is voluntary and not compulsory for people to take the vaccine. We cannot force people. The government is providing every necessary thing for vaccination. In Morabadi ground, on a daily basis, just 50 people are vaccinated. It is not a good number,” he added.
There are around 19 government Covid Vaccine Centres (CVCs) in Ranchi district namely Angara CHC, Kutchery Karyalya, Bero CHC, Nagri Block office, Burmu CHC, CCL Gandhinagar, Chanho CHC, Kanke CHC, Community centre Ashoke Nagar, Morabadi Football Stadium, HEC wellness centre, Khelari Burmu, Lapung CHC, Mandar CHC, Namkum CHC, Ormanjhi CHC, Resaldar Baba Doranda, Sadar Hospital, Sonahatu CHC.
Apart from these, the government has also set up various vaccination camps across rural areas in the district.
