Ranchi braces up for Independence Day celebrations  

22 police officers, personnel to be honoured with medals

Ranchi, Aug.14: There will be a 16-hour no-entry of heavy vehicles from 6 am to 10 pm in the state capital on the occasion of Independence Day.

A notification issued from the office of S.P.(traffic) informed this saying all the heavy vehicles moving towards the city will not be allowed to go beyond 10 entry points of the city including Boreya, Birsa Chowk, Katahal More, Pandra, ITI Bus stand, Durga Soren Chowk, Kusai, Chandni Chowk, Booty More and Kokar. As far as light vehicles including four-wheelers and two-wheelers are concerned they can move in the city but at some roads adjacent to Morabadi ground, where Chief Minister (CM) Hemant Soren will hoist the national flag at 9am, some restrictions have been imposed to ensure that the CM does not face any hindrance in his movement while going to the main venue from his residence via Ranchi College and State Guest House.

As many as 18 drop gates have been installed on the roads around Morabadi to give selective entry.  Light vehicles coming from Booty More towards the SSP residence have not been allowed to go beyond Karam Toli chowk and have been diverted towards Jail More. Similarly, vehicles coming from Morabadi have been diverted toward arterial roads of the locality.

At Morabadi ground as many as six parking spaces have been specified near Tribal Research Institute, Hockey Stadium, main stage, Bapu Vatika, Neelambar Peetambar Park, and Army ground.

Keeping Covid-19 protocols in mind, limited persons have been invited. The number of viewers and guests is not expected to be more than 3000.

The DC has already appealed to children and senior citizens to stay at home and watch the Independence Day programme live on their television. Apart from this, those coming to the programme venue have been asked to follow social distancing norms and use masks.

As many as 11 platoons of CRPF, CISF, ITBP, JAP-1, JAP-2, Jharkhand Jaguar, JAP-10, Ranchi Police (women), Ranchi Police (men), SSB, and Jharkhand Home Guard (JHG), band parties of JAP-1, JAP-10 and JHG are participating in the parade this year.

As many as 22 police officers and personnel will be honoured with medals tomorrow. Out of 22, one will be given a President medal for distinguished service, six will be given police medals for bravery while 15 will be honoured for meritorious service. One who will get the President medal is AST Sub inspector Paras Nath Ojha while those who will get police medals for bravery include Inspector Manish Chandra Lal, sub-inspector Suresh Ram, Rohit Kumar Rajak, Heeralal Thakur, Anirudha Ojha and Yashwant Mahto.

The list of 15 who will be honoured for meritorious services includes special branch DSP Sanchman Tamang, ACB inspector Imtiyaz Ahsan, JAP-2 Sargeant major Deo Kumar Rai, Ranchi sub-inspector Lalan Prasad Singh, Sariakela sub-inspector Dev Nandan Prasad, special branch sub-inspector Ranjan Kumar, ASI IRB-2 Lalji Tiwari, Chaibasa ASI Manoj Kumar, Jamtada ASI Rambali Prasad, STF ASI Ranjan Kumar Pathak, special branch ASI Bhagwan Prasad, ATS Hawildar Gopal Ram, Khunti Hawildar Bandhu Kharia, ATS Hawildar Asit Basariar, JAPTC constable Jai Kishore Ram.
