Ranchi, April 26: The special CBI court in Ranchi framed charges against Sanjay Tiwari, Raju Verma and Suresh Kumar, in the multi-crore mid-day meal scam.

The sections under which the charge was framed include 409,420,120(B) of IPC and section 13(2),(D) of the PC Act. Now, under these sections, trials will be held against all the three accused.

Tiwari is currently in judicial custody. He was sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail after he surrendered last month.

The scam involves 100 crores allotted for  the mid-day meal scheme. The said amount was illegally transferred from SBI Dhurwa branch to 34 accounts of Bhanu Construction. An FIR in this connection was first lodged in Dhurwa police station. Later, the CBI took over the investigation of the case.

In the year 2021, the ED had taken up the case by registering case number ECIR 3/2021.
