CONRAD DIAS

Ranchi, April 8: Ganesh Reddy, Secretary at Citizens Foundation NGO, completed a century of blood donations on Thursday in Ranchi. The 52-year-old has been donating blood for the last 29 years in a gap of every three months. He spoke to lagatar24.com and expressed his feelings.

“It is a great feeling to donate blood for the 100th time in 29 years. It was an incident years back where I lost a loved one due to negligence and not getting blood at the time. That’s when I decided that I will donate blood regularly so that it could save lives. I even donated blood during the pandemic,” he said.

The Citizens Foundation conducted a blood donation camp on Thursday which saw quite a lot of first-time donors who attended the camp. Many organisations also took part in the camp.

He added that the purpose of such an initiative should reach the people. Many people approach the donors when in need but very few people want to donate blood.

“If there is a requirement of blood in a family then they will look for a donor outside but they themselves will not donate. Every family should have at least one donor in their family so that there is never a shortage of blood supply. People visit salons and parlours regularly to groom themselves. Similarly, they should donate blood every three months,” he added.
