Ranchi, Jan 25: All the 44 accused in the communal riot that took place in July 2014 in Salagain under the Chanho police station area causing the death of a person and injuries to 33 including 13 policemen have been acquitted.
The court of the additional judicial commissioner in Jharkhand capital MC Jha passed the acquittal order after nine years of trial. The case reached the court after an FIR was registered in this connection at Chanho police station after the incident.
The dispute arose after Namaz was offered a piece of land on the occasion of Eid and the tribal raised objection to this.
Though the program was also organised in the presence of police personnel and administrative officials, clash count one group attacked the other group.
Moreover, Section 144 was implemented in the surrounding areas including Silagai. A total of 48 people were arrested in this case. The government had also announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to the kin of the killed villager and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
