Ranchi, June 21: A city court today sentenced Mariyam Toppo, who had hammered her husband, Marianus Toppo, to death in a fit of rage during a domestic violence four years ago, for life.

Court of additional judicial commissioner Manish Ranjan passed the order after four years of trial during which nine witnesses were examined by the prosecution side.

An FIR was registered in this connection on May 15, 2019, at Ratu police station on the information of Sushma Lakra, wife of the deceased’s brother.

According to the FIR, on May 14, 2019, the domestic fight between Mariam Toppo and her husband took such a violent form that the wife got angry and killed her husband Marianus Toppo by hitting him on the head with a hammer.
