Ranchi, July 5: The CTVS department at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) performed life-saving surgery on a 60-year-old man from Jamshedpur who had an arrow pierced through his chest and was referred to RIMS by MGM hospital Jamshedpur.
Dr Rakesh Kumar from CTVS dept at RIMS spoke to lagatar24.com and gave vital information regarding the surgery.
“The patient is out of danger now. There was a quarrel between two groups and someone shot an arrow at this person which pierced his left chest and got stuck while exiting. He was really lucky that the arrow did not touch his heart otherwise he would have died then and there,” he said.
He added that the incident took place at Patamda village near Jamshedpur. The patient was first taken to MGM hospital in Jamshedpur and after looking at the severity of the incident he was referred to RIMS Ranchi.

As soon as the patient reached Ranchi, he was looked upon by the doctors of the CTVS department and they took no time to start the operation. The patient will be kept under observation for a couple of days as there were some minor injuries to his chest due to the piercing.
Dr Vinit Mahajan, Dr Rakesh Chaudhary, Dr Nitesh and other OT staff played a crucial role in saving the life of the 60-year-old patient.
