Ranchi: DSPM University begins four-day Youth Fest celebrations

Ranchi, Nov 21: Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University on Monday began its four-day long celebration of the Youth Fest named ‘Spandan’ to be organized from November 21 to 24. The fest was inaugurated by University Vice Chancellor Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya. Others present on the occasion were DSW Anil Kumar, Registrar Dr Namita Singh and Finance Officer Dr Anand Mishra.

Addressing the inaugural session, VC Shandilya said that this youth festival is completely dedicated to the youth of the university. In his address to the students and participants present in the auditorium, he said, “This university and programme is your own and thus you should ensure participation in it with full enthusiasm and discipline and make this festival a success.”

He further called upon the teachers, staff, jury and students to make the programme towards success and appealed for their cooperation.

The programme saw a dance performance dedicated to Shiva’s form of Nataraja by the music department of the university. It is noteworthy that about 30 competitions are expected to be held in the four-day youth festival. These include Classical Vocal, Classical Instrumental, Light Vocal, Western Vocal, Group Song, Rangoli, Poster Making, On Spot Painting, and Mehndi Competitions, which were organised on the first day. A total of 151 participants displayed their talent on Day 1.

The jury for music competitions included Lily Mukherjee, Mrinal Pathak, Srijit Chatterjee, Kanhaiya Kumar Pathak, Vinod Kumar Ranjan and CR Hembrom from the department of Fine Art. The winner of the competition will be rewarded on November 23.
