Ranchi, April 27: The ED court today framed charges against advocate Rajeev Kumar and Kolkata-based businessman Amit Agrawal, thus paving the path for beginning a trial in the ‘cash for PIL’ case.

Both the accused were present before the court when the charge was framed. Advocate Shiv Kumar alias Kakaji argued on behalf of the ED while on behalf of advocate Kumar, Shambhu Agarwal argued. Advocate Vidyut Chaurasia argued on behalf of businessman Amit Agarwal.

The exercise was expected to be completed on April 19 but due to absence of both the accused it could not take place.

Earlier on April 6, the special court of ED had rejected the discharge petition and the same has been challenged before the high court also. During the pendency of the case at Jharkhand High Court this development took place.
