Ranchi ED court summons suspended chief engineer’s wife, father

Ranchi, April 29: The Prevention and Money Laundering Act special court issued summons to father and wife of the jailed suspended chief engineer of Jharkhand government, Veerendra Ram, Genda Ram and Rajkumari Devi respectively.

The development took place after the court, took cognizance of the ED’s prosecution complaint (PC) against Ram paving the path for trial in the money laundering case involving the suspended chief engineer.

The ED had filed the PC on April 21. In the PC, apart from Ram, information has also been given about people who earned illegal money by managing tenders. The PC includes details about those involved in the money laundering with their role in the act and earning from the crime.

The ED had already arrested engineer Veerendra Ram on February 22, after it raided 24 locations and recovered documents related to investment in tunes of crores in many cities of the country besides purchase of jewellery worth. Apart from Ram, The ED had also arrested his nephew Alok Ranjan in the case.
