Ranchi, Sept 8: The students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses of the School of Environmental Studies participated in a debate competition organised under Amrit Mahotsav at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University. The participants showed their logical skills on selected topics like ‘Application of Nuclear Power’, ‘Use of Pesticide in Agriculture’, among others.
Vice Chancellor Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya and Registrar Dr Namita Singh participated in various sessions of the debate. VC Dr Shandilya while awarding the participants said that the main reason for the increasing pressure towards urbanization in the present environment is poverty and employment generation at the local level is at minimum level, hence it is necessary to increase the employment at these levels to maintain balance.
He further said that this encouragement would act as a catalyst for the times to come for these participants. He constantly stressed on such events in the university. Registrar Dr Namita Singh said that such competitions develop the logical and thinking power of the students.
School of Environmental Studies coordinators Dr Sajlendu Ghosh, Dr Namita Lal, Dr Geetanjali Singh, Dr Debu Mukherjee, Sandeep Prasad, Soni Kumari and Anushil Anand were present on the occasion.
