Ranchi, Oct 28: The markets of Ranchi have flooded with oil lamps, green crackers, and Chinese lights in the wake of the upcoming festival of lights.
An oil lamp seller said that this year they have prepared a special hanging oil lamp which is attracting the consumers in the market.
“The market has slowed down with very few consumers so we have prepared a package which combines every item used in Diwali decoration according to different consumers requirements,” the oil lamp seller said.
This year in Diwali green crackers will be allowed in the state while keeping in mind the environmental impact as well as the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research’s National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), these are firecrackers made with a reduced shell size and produce 30% to 35% fewer emissions compared to normal firecrackers. The green crackers also reportedly emit 125 decibels of sound, compared to 160 decibels emitted by non-green variants.
In the district, the sale of crackers has started in the Morabadi ground with fire fighting vehicles available at the spot.
“We have arranged all the firecrackers in a package ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 7000 which contains all the green crackers in different amounts according to the price range,” a green cracker seller said.
On the other hand, Chinese lights have also made their way into the markets with amazing colours and designs. “Because of the pandemic the sale is on a lower side but still consumers are coming to know the price and some are buying too,” a Chinese light seller said.
