Ranchi, Feb 28: The members of Adivasi Jan Parishad formed a human chain near Harmu by-pass around 11 am today when CM Hemant Soren’s convoy was leaving for Vidhan Sabha to participate in the budget session.
Prem Sahay Munda, leader of Adivasi Jan Parishad said that they have questions that should be answered by the authorities. “We have formed this human chain because we have questions for the authorities regarding regional policy, language policy, industrial policy etc. for the tribals which has not yet been answered. We should be given equal opportunity for jobs and businesses in Jharkhand.”
In the letter issued by the Personnel Department, many languages have been recognized in the districts whereas some have been excluded at the state level. Urdu is included at the state level, but it is not recognized in any district. Similarly, Maithili, which is ranked in the second official language, is neither included in the state level examination nor has it been recognized at the district level.
A youth from Adivasi Jan Parishad participating in the protest stated that it is their fight and they are not going to back out. “We have come here to support the movement and it is our fight. Whenever there will be a fight for Jharkhand’s recognition we will always fight for it.”
