Ranchi, Feb 10: Over 50 per cent of students of the Maths Department at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU) have failed the term examination. The All Jharkhand Student Union (AJSU) on Friday locked the administrative department of the university and protested against the results.
The students have claimed that the papers need to be rechecked as it is not possible that several students, who usually excel in exams, would fail in Maths. Furthermore, the students have also demanded that classes be conducted regularly and on time in the department.
Abhishek Jha, University Coordinator of AJSU Students’ Union, said that if one or two children had failed, it would have been the students’ fault, but more than 50 per cent of the students failing, it is the teacher’s fault.
Meanwhile, after over an hour, since the protest began, DSPMU Vice Chancellor Tapan Kumar Shandilya visited the students. After hearing of their issues, the VC promised a solution within three to four days.
He said, “We cannot eliminate the problems, but we can reduce the problems. Do not worry, we will solve your demands in three to four days.”
