Ranchi: Over 6.4 lakhs MGNREGA workers registered on e-shram portal

Ranchi, Mar 21: As many as 6,44,541 MGNREGA workers of Ranchi district have been registered on the e-shram portal which came to the fore after the review meeting on the e-shram portal under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan.

In the meeting, the DC while reviewing the registration work of workers of the unorganized sector on the e-shram portal in the district gave necessary directions to the concerned officials.

Ranchi district ranks second in the state in terms of total labour registration. In the district, 87 percent of MGNREGA workers have been registered on the e-shram portal. There are seven blocks where more than 90 percent of MGNREGA workers have been registered. Whereas in the remaining 11 blocks, the registration work of more than 80 percent of workers has been completed. In the Ormanjhi block, 98 percent of MGNREGA workers are registered in the e-shram portal, while 95 percent in Anagada, 94 percent in Namkum, 93 percent in Itki and Khalari, 91 percent in Nagdi and Sonahatu have been registered.

In the review meeting, the DC directed to continue the work of registration of workers of the unorganized sector in the district on the portal. He asked the Labor Superintendent to identify the workers of the unorganized sector and ensure their registration on the portal through Pragya Kendra.

In Ranchi, the workers of the unorganized sector were being registered on the portal by setting up camps by the district administration. In which 6 lakh 44 thousand 541 labourers were registered. Now workers can get themselves registered by visiting their nearest Pragya Kendra where registration is free and the workers are not required to pay any fee.

Following are the documents required for registration on e-shram portal-

  • Aadhar Number
  • Aadhaar linked mobile and active mobile number.
  • Savings bank account with IFSC code.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, after registration, the unorganized workers will get accident insurance cover of two benefits under PMSBY. In the future, all social security benefits of such workers will be provided through this portal. This card will be valid across the country and the unorganized workers will get recognition. This database will be used to provide the necessary support to the eligible unorganized workers in situations like emergencies and national pandemics.
