Ranchi Police arrest 7 persons, detain 22 for Friday violence

Ranchi, June 13: The police team in Jharkhand capital has raided 42 houses in Lower Bazar, Hindpiri, Daily Market, and Kotwali police station areas simultaneously. After raids, as many as 29 suspects have been picked up for questioning.

 

During the investigation, it has come to the fore that the mob was mobilized through a WhatsApp group named Wasseypur Gang. The police are now looking for the admin of this group. The Ranchi Police is conducting raids in search of the rioters. For this, a raiding team has been formed by the Ranchi Police today. On the basis of the CCTV footage, the raiding team is busy identifying the accused involved in the violent incident and arresting them.

The vehicle of the Bihar government’s Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen was attacked on June 10. In this case, the police have arrested an accused. On Sunday, the police arrested a youth named Md Anish from Pahari Tola of Sukhdeonagar police station area. On the spot of the arrested accused, the police are conducting raids in search of other people involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the police have made an appeal to the people and said that they should not pay attention to any kind of rumours. In case of rumour, police have asked to inform immediately to the nearest police for verification and action.

 

As police have started conducting raids, relatives and family members associated with those picked up by police have started reaching the police station to plead innocence.

 

S.P(city) Anshuman Kumar confirmed the action but refused to divulge further details saying that the exact number of arrested people can be counted only when they will be produced before the court.

 

Contacted a civil court lawyer, he said he has noticed seven being sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail.

 

A section of Muslim women was noticed at the Kotwali police station. They were asking about two youths lifted from Moti Masjid locality under Kotwali police station area while police personnel were noticed driving them out from the police station.

 

“The youths have been taken to another place for questioning,” a police personnel was heard saying while the women were heard saying that those picked are from reputed colleges of the city and their examination is at hand.
