Ranchi, Dec 28: In a joint action of Ranchi Police and Excise Department, notorious liquor mafia Ganesh Gorai was arrested last night after the police team swung into action after getting instruction from SSP Kishore Kaushal.
Notably, Gorai is a resident of Purulia in West Bengal.
The Excise Department and the Special Branch have together prepared a list of 90 liquor mafias involved in illegal liquor smuggling. A recommendation has also been made to impose CCA on these mafias.
It is believed that after the liquor ban in Bihar, there has been an increase in the number of smugglers in Jharkhand. According to excise department officials, liquor bottles are being smuggled in Bihar from Jharkhand.
There is also information that the team of the excise department is catching them and sending the smugglers to jail, but after being released, they again start smuggling.
The excise department has made available the list of all such liquor mafias of Ranchi to the police.
The list carries names of Vishnu Sahu of Chanho, Kaila Mahato of Khalari, Balkaran Mahato of Nagdi, Guddu Sahu of Chutia, Santosh Munda of Tatisilwai, Vishnu Poddar of Silli police station area, Ganesh Gorai and Harendra Singh of Nagdi, Ankit Gupta of Sukhdev Nagar, Bhushan Toppo of Ratu, Sanjay Lohra of Sukhdev Nagar, Anil Sahu of Sukhdev Nagar, Ganga Sahu and Ganga Sagar of Airport police station area, Sonaram Sahu, Sonu Kumar of Kanke, Raju Saav, Ajay Sahu, Airport police station Sanjay Sahu etc.
