Ranchi, Nov 9: Ranchi police arrested a thief who admitted his involvement in more than 12 cases of theft reported to the Chutia police station.

The thief, identified as Ravi Sharma alias Sudu Sharma, is a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh and is presently staying in a rented house on Road No 8 of Dwarkapuri under the Chutia police station area.

Ranchi SSP Kishor Kaushal revealed the breakthrough in a press conference saying it came after the police got secret information regarding the location of the thief. He said stolen gold jewellery and silver utensils were recovered from the possession of Sharma. Apart from this, tools, gloves, and masks used in the theft have also been recovered.

SSP Kaushal said Sharma was active for the last eight years and used to enter the unattended house during night hours to commit theft. Before the theft, he used to watch the house from close range.
