Ranchi, March 6: Ranchi Police arrested a car driver Akash Ghosh within an hour he committed a robbery with a woman software engineer on way to the Ranchi bus stand from Birsa Munda Airport. The robbery was committed around 11.30 am and the driver was arrested at 12.30 pm. Ghosh had escaped with the purse of the passenger which had her cards and other documents.
Officer-in-charge of Airport police station, Anand Kumar, confirmed the breakthrough saying the woman had come from Bengaluru and was going to the bus stand to catch a bus for Jamshedpur. The robbery was committed at Kadru, half a kilometre from bus stands.
Asked how the breakthrough came, OC Kumar said, “The woman had come with her friend, who had to go to Rourkela. His train was late and he was waiting at the airport. As the loot happened, the woman called her friend, who informed us. Collecting CCTV footage without delay we helped some locals nab the culprit from North Office Para under Doranda PS area.”
When probed further, he said further the investigation is on.
