Ranchi, Jan 7: Ranchi police is learnt to have solved the Sushma Baraik shoot-out case as the police have arrested two out of three shooters who had opened gunfire upon Sushma Baraik on December 13 last year.

Ranchi Police has already arrested Danish Rizwan who is the main conspirator and had hired shooters. Danish Rizwan belongs to Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) headed by former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi. He served as the national principal general secretary and national spokesperson of the Ham party. Ranchi police arrested Rizwan with the help of Bihar police.

“Shooters arrested and the case has been solved. Danish Rizwan had hired shooters to eliminate Sushma Barack. It is said that both Danish Rizwan and Sushma Baraik were in an intimate relationship. Sushma Baraik has a son and she claims Danish Rizwan as the biological father. She had also lodged an FIR against Danish Rizwan in Patna and had filed a petition before the Patna High Court for a DNA test,” said a senior official of Ranchi police.

Investigation revealed that shooters hired by Danish Rizwan first attempted to eliminate her in November in Ranchi. But they could not find a suitable place and opportunity to kill her. Lastly, shooters cornered her at Sahjanand Chowk under Argora police station. She suffered two bullets and she is recovering at a city-based hospital.

Some local people of Ranchi were also allegedly involved to provide a safe passage to shooters and they have been identified by the police.

Sushma Baraik hogged the limelight after she lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against IPS PS Natrajan in 2005. However, after 12 years of legal battle, the court exonerated Natranjan from the charges of sexual exploitation. But he was terminated from the service.
