Ranchi, Oct.1: In a wee hour raid on the intervening night of Sept 30Oct 1, a police team in Bundu arrested two people who were mixing water in a milk tanker that was on the way to the Sudha Dairy plant in Ranchi.

The arrest took place as the tanker was parked beside a Jai Singh Punjabi Dhaba on NH-33. The breakthrough came after police swung into action on getting information from Ranchi SSP Kaushal Kishore regarding the adulteration plan through his sources.

“Equipment being used to drain out milk from the tanker, water pump fitted with pipe to replace drained milk and a drum full of stolen milk drained out from the tanker was recovered from the spot,” a police official said.

Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bundu Ajay Kumar confirmed the development incident saying it was getting to 2.30 am when the arrest was done.

SDPO Kumar said the primary investigation suggested that drivers of tankers are involved in the incident to have some extra income.

Asked whether any other injurious item was also being mixed, SDPO Kumar said, “No other material was not found there except water”
