Ranchi, June 15: The Governor’s direction to make the photographs of the troublemakers, who pelted stones on cops on June 10, public has put the Ranchi police in a catch-22 situation. If it is followed, there is every possibility of suspects leaving the city to evade police arresting and if not followed there is possibility of suspects being re-organised to create another trouble in the city.
A police official informed this saying before the governor gave the direction, a Hindi daily published the photographs of troublemakers in action but after the photographs were published the trouble makers became alert.
“Messages were spread among trouble makers. They were advised to leave the city and sympathisers were asked to give them proper support. Apparently, this was the reason posters carrying pictures of trouble mongers were removed a few minutes after it was displayed at prominent places in the city following the governor,” a police official said.
Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan refused to comment on the matter saying the matter is being looked after by the police officials. Senior superintendent of police S.K. Jha could not be available for his comment. His body guard took his call saying that the police officer was busy. S.P.(city) Anshuman Kumar did not take a call for a comment on the matter.
A police official said it is all due to confusion over taking action during the course of investigation. “A section of police officials is too busy while work of a section of police officials is perfunctory at best as they are working without applying their own mind,” the official said.
“The way investigation is being done needs a team of IT experts having the idea of collecting call dump, checking the genuineness of social media posts, identifying the admin of the disputed whatsapp group and creator of controversial facebook accounts besides others. Such experts are limited among police personnel in the district and thus there is chaos and confusion,” the police official said.
