Ranchi police perform anti-riot drill on eve of Friday prayer

Ranchi, June 16: Police in the Jharkhand capital today performed mock drills to deal with any unruly mob that comes out to hamper the peace of the city.

The step was taken after police got input regarding the possibility of disturbance after Friday (Jumma) prayer at different mosques.

Apart from the mock drill, police have done barricading at strategic locations in six police station areas including Lower Bazar, Daily Market, Hindpiri, Chutia and Kotwali where section 144 of CrPC has already been enforced.

Forces are deployed in big numbers in the localities around Eqra Masjid Chowk, Mallah Toli, Urdu Library and Ranchi Lane among others.

Ranchi DIG Anish Gupta, SSP Surendra Kumar Jha, and City SP Anshuman Kumar did the necessary briefing to the jawans in the police line.

DIG Gupta told media persons that proper arrangement of anti-riot vehicles has been done and forces have been given necessary direction to handle any unwanted situation.
