Ranchi, April 9: In the wake of Ram Navmi and Ramzan, police in the Jharkhand capital have asked people to extend their cooperation in the maintenance of law and order.
As a part of the cooperation, the police have asked the public not to share any objectionable messages on social media and avoid forwarding misleading information, photos, videos and objectionable remarks taking caste, creed and religion.
Police have also asked people to report the anti-social elements trying to disturb the communal harmony of the city to the nearest police station.
Apart from this, the police have also asked people not to play songs that could hurt the religious sentiments of others and spoil social harmony.
The appeal has been made a day after police took out a flag march in different parts of the city to give a sense of security among the peace-loving people and warn anti-social elements against any attempt to disturb the communal harmony.
A locality resident however said the exercise is not going to yield any result unless anti-social elements are tackled with an iron hand.
“On Friday night, a vehicle was burnt and a section of youth became victims of a mob attack at Karbala Chowk. Prior to this, there was a clash taking place in the Ram Navami procession at Fateh Ullah Road. Unless police do not handle such cases properly, the mere appeal is not going to help,” the resident said.
