Ranchi: A sub-inspector posted at the Simdega wireless office has been accused of sexually exploiting a young woman from Palamu. Based on her complaint, Ranchi’s Mahila Thana (women’s police station) has registered an FIR under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is now underway.

Allegation of physical relationship under pretext of marriage

In her statement, the woman, currently living in a hostel in Ranchi for educational purposes, alleged that she met the sub-inspector on Instagram. Their acquaintance turned romantic, and they started meeting frequently. The sub-inspector allegedly took her to his residence in Pundag several times, where physical relations occurred. According to the complainant, he repeatedly promised to marry her while continuing to exploit her physically.

Beating and blocking after she insisted on marriage

When she began pressing him to fulfill his promise of marriage, the sub-inspector allegedly started avoiding her. Eventually, he blocked her number and cut off all communication. On June 19, when the woman went to meet him in Simdega to seek answers, he reportedly assaulted her at the bus stand and forced her to leave.

Plea for strict legal action

The woman further mentioned that the trauma of the incident impacted her family, as her father fell ill soon after. After returning home and regaining composure, she lodged an official complaint at Ranchi’s women’s police station. She has requested strict legal action against the accused officer for betrayal and abuse.
