Ranchi, June 13: Birsa Munda Central Jail has apparently become a place to plan murder strategies.
This came to the fore as the Ranchi Police today solved the mystery behind killing of Bittu Khan alias Tanveer Alam at Tonte Chowk in Edalhatu locality under the Bariatu police station area on June 6 saying the murder plan was chalked out at the said jail.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal dubbed Raj Verma lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail as a conspirator.
He produced six ‘criminals’ to support his claim. The ‘criminals’, he produced, included Rohan Srivastava, Mohammad Arif, Ankit Kumar Singh, Deepak Kumar Singh and Ankush Kumar Singh. Apart from this, he also produced three live bullets, two bikes and four mobile phones claimed to have recovered the same from the possession of said criminal.
“ An investigation by the police revealed that the plan to murder Tanveer Ahmed, alias Bittu, was devised two months ago. Ankit Kumar Singh was tasked with recceing Edalhatu TOP, while Deepak Kumar Singh was tasked with recceing the deceased Ahmed’s house ,” he said.
“On June 3, Deepak Kumar Singh and Ankush Kumar Singh alias Lucky had gone to meet jailed Raj Verma to receive instructions from him. The incident has been executed on the instructions of jailed Raj Verma. Durga and Abhishek Malik were on a bike on the day of the incident, in which Durga was driving and Abhishek Malik had a pistol. And the other was Rohan Srivastava and Rohit Munda alias Bidi on the bike, in which Rohan Srivastava was driving and Rohit Munda alias Bidi had a pistol. After the incident Mohameed Arif was given the pass to hide the weapon and bike,” SSP Kaushal informed.
Explaining the circumstances under which the incident took place, SSP Kaushal said: “On March 27, Sharma and Verma were brought to the court from jail for appearances in their cases. After appearance both were being sent back to jail under police protection in the prisoner vehicle itself. On the way they had an argument over an old matter. Soon they clashed. The policemen present outside the building warned them to stop fighting, but they did not agree. After which the driver of the prisoner’s vehicle drove the vehicle directly into the Bariatu police station. This clash was the immediate reason behind murder.”
Explaining other reasons, SSP Kaushal said there is an old enmity between Sharma and Verma also. “Verma belongs to the Kalu Lama gang. A year back, Kalu Lama was shot dead publicly near Shibu Soren’s residence by the Luvkush Sharma gang. In this case, Jharkhand ATS arrested Luv Kush Sharma from Bihar this year. Bittu Khan was accused of killing Lama. Khan was arrested. He had bailed out just six months before the murder. To escape from the members of the Kalu Lama gang, Khan had left Edalhatu. After his release from jail, he started living in the Hindpiri area of Ranchi. It was being said that ten days before the murder, he used to go to his residence in Edalhatu again in the morning and evening. The information about which had come to the Lama gang. After which he was murdered in a pre planned manner,” the said.
