Ranchi, May 13: Ranchi railway stations’ took a big step for divyang travellers where from now on, divyang passengers can navigate the railway station with ease. In a bid to ensure accessibility to all, the Ranchi Railway station has been made more accessible for visually impaired railway passengers.
According to the sources, the Ranchi rail division has installed braille signages at key locations. This feature will help divyang passengers to find out information and the location of various facilities at the railway station.
Ranchi rail division officials said that the braille script map has been installed on both sides of the main gate of the railway station. This facility has been started in view of the problems being faced by the differently-abled passengers at the Ranchi railway station.
“By using this facility any handicapped person can reach any place in the station as all the resources available in the station campus have been mentioned in the map installed at both the main gates of the station,” he added.
With the help of that map, one can find places like reservation counter, foot over bridge, escalator, waiting area, catering stall, lavatory, water and many more.
A separate ramp has also been made for the disabled passengers to help them board the train. It is made available to the passengers as per their needs.
A booklet has also been kept at the ticket counter for differently-abled passengers. In this, the names of all the trains arriving and departing from Ranchi are mentioned in Braille script. Blind passengers used to face a lot of problems in getting tickets from the counter. Now with the availability of booklets, this problem of passengers will also be removed.
Wheelchairs are also being arranged in the railway station for differently-abled passengers where they can take the advantage of this without any charge.
