Ranchi, Dec.12: Around 10 months after the recovery of Medicine Point owner Rakesh Ranjan’s body from the ground floor of Mangalam Enclave and initially taking it a case of suicide, the police in Jharkhand capital today arrested the deceased’s wife Preeti Ranjan and claimed that it was case of murder.

Officer-in-charge of Argora police station Vinod Kumar made the claim saying circumstantial evidences support the murder.

“There is a lot of circumstantial evidence. I do not want to share all with the media but the three which I can share include the call records in which Rakesh is heard saying to his son to save him, name of Preeti Ranjan as a nominee in the insurance policy of Rs 1.5 crore purchased by Rakesh and exit of Preeti from the house immediately after the death of her husband in the night,” OC Kumar said.

Asked OC Kumar whether the lady accepted her crime, OC Kumar said he had to ask him much but there is sufficient evidence.

The incident had taken place on March 20, 2022. The case was reported to Argora police station.  Initially the police said that Rakesh committed suicide by jumping from his flat on the third floor of the apartment

Though the police took it a case of suicide and attempted to minimize the case but the matter hogged the limelight as Rakesh’s name had come up in the interrogation of the CID by Rajeev Singh, who was arrested in the black marketing of Remdesivir injection.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) team had made Rakesh Ranjan a government witness.

Rajeev Singh had told the police that he had taken a Remdesivir injection from Rakesh Ranjan. The story came out differently when the CID team investigated the whole matter. All the injections came from Srishti Hospital in Hinoo, Doranda.

During interrogation, the CID got information that Manish Sinha, who was associated with Srishti Hospital, did not take money for the injection. Being familiar and friendly, he gave this injection to Rakesh Ranjan.
