Ranchi, April 6: Robbers struck the family which had kept Rs 15 lakh cash and ornaments worth Rs 25 lakh for marriage of daughter and decamped with cash and valuables.
The incident took place late evening on Wednesday at Adarsh Nagar in Tatisilwai at the residence of retired forest department range officer Rudra Narayan Prasad. Robbers held the range officer and his three family members hostage to commit the robbery. The robbery which started at 7.30pm lasted for two hours.
No one sustained injuries in the incident as the robbers assured safety in case of surrender of cash and valuables without applying any trick and the family members followed their diktat.
An FIR was registered in this connection today morning on the information of the retired ranger.
S.P. (rural) Naushad Alam confirmed the incident saying police so far have not got any clue in the matter. “With the help of CCTV footage, an investigation is going on. Prima facie hands of local gang suspected in the incident,” Alam said.
