Ranchi, Sept 24: Ranchi Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kaushal Kishore today suspended a constable clerk Munshi Bhushan Kumar posted at Namkum police station for demanding Rs 15,000 as a bribe to release a bike which was recovered after theft.

The action was taken based on a report by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) Neeraj Kumar. The SSP had asked him to probe the matter when vehicle owner Shankar Kumar knocked on his door with a complaint against the constable clerk.

“The bike was stolen on September 21. Police recovered it on September 23. After the vehicle recovered, an amount of Rs 15000 was demanded by the constable clerk from the vehicle owner,” a police official said.

This is not for the first time that the SSP has put any police official under suspension for harassing people. Earlier, he had suspended the in-charge of Pundag OP for delaying the registration of FIR for a year.
