Ranchi, Nov 9: The operation and surgery services at the Tata Cancer Institute in Sukurhutu, Kanke have started from November 6, as informed by an official of the hospital, after the soft launch of the hospital was done in October this year.

Niraj Kaushik, the program coordinator at Tata Cancer Institute spoke to lagatar24.com and said that the OPD services in the hospital had started after the soft launch in October this year and on a daily basis, around 10 to 15 patients attend the OPD services.

Around 200 patients have benefited in a month through the OPD services. Its foundation stone was laid on November 10, 2018. However, the facility for admitting patients has not started yet.

At present, the OPD charge is Rs 135 for cancer treatment. There is also a facility to admit patients in the 68-bed wards in the hospital. The process of starting it soon is going on.

Tata company has tied up with the state government so that patients here will get treatment facilities at the CGHS rate fixed by the Government of India. At present, the facility of radiotherapy, MRI, ultrasound, and CT scan examination is being provided to the patients.

Notably, an x-ray is being done for Rs 100 whereas an ultrasound is being done for just Rs 500. When the hospital will become fully operational, other facilities will be started along with Jan Arogya Suvidha, Health Insurance, ESI, and CM Critical Illness Treatment Scheme.

For this, specialist doctors have been recruited. The machine for treating patients is state-of-the-art. This type of machine is not there in the surrounding states.

Kaushik added that the department of surgery is led by Dr Amitesh Anand and doctors for all the other facilities are also available in the government-funded cancer institute.

The hospital, which is developed on par with Mumbai-based Tata Memorial Centre, has 14 operation theatres and 28 ICUs. The government had also signed an MoU with Tata Trusts under which a special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be formed to run the hospital.
