Ranchi: Ranchi Police has gone into alert mode ahead of the proposed gherao of the Chief Minister’s residence by JPSC-JSSC aspirants on August 20, with security along the entire route from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium to the CM’s residence being tightened in anticipation of a large gathering of protesters.
Over 2,000 Police Personnel to Be Deployed
According to police, more than 2,000 personnel are being deployed to maintain law and order during the demonstration, with additional forces stationed at key intersections and sensitive locations along the route from the stadium to the Chief Minister’s residence. A special traffic plan is also being drawn up to ensure smooth movement for the public during the protest, and barricading may be set up along various routes depending on the situation. Police aim to prevent protesters from breaching the designated security cordon and reaching close to the CM’s residence, with additional security forces to be deployed across the area if required.
CCTV Cameras Being Upgraded to Monitor Movement
To strengthen the security setup, CCTV cameras installed along the route between Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and the Chief Minister’s residence are being repaired and connected to the police control room, with faulty equipment also being replaced. According to police officials, the entire protest will be monitored through CCTV footage, and any disruption or attempt to breach law and order will be used to identify and act against those involved based on the recorded footage.
Intelligence Department Gathering Information on Protesters
Following the announcement of the gherao, the intelligence department has also become active, gathering information on the expected number of aspirants likely to join the protest, the number of students arriving in Ranchi from other districts, and their probable routes.
