Ranchi to get one more ‘One Stop Centre’ for women in distress

Ranchi, Sept, 24: The district administration is ready to start one more One Stop Centre in the city near the Collectorate office. To make it function in a proper way the Women and social welfare department, Ranchi has started the recruitment process of various personnel like –Counselleor, Multipurpose worker, case worker etc.

 

One-Stop Centre Scheme was started in the year 2017-2018 and is intended to support women affected by violence in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at the workplace. Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race and culture will be facilitated with support and redressal.

 

The main objective of this scheme is to provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces under one roof and to facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological, and counselling support under one roof to fight against any forms of violence against women.

 

The OSC targets women and girls aged below 18 years and facilitates services like – Emergency Response and Rescue Services,   Shelter, Medical assistance, Psycho-social support/counselling, Legal aid and counselling, Assistance to women in lodging FIR/ NCR/DIR. There is 24 functional OCS assistance available in various districts of Jharkhand.

Asking about the opening of another One Stop Centre at Ranchi, one of the staff at the women and social welfare department said that “it’s very difficult to search all these files and tell about One-stop Centre and its cases. It is better to go to Kanke and get the information from there.”

 

One of the centres for One Stop Centre is already functioning at Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry& Allied Sciences (RINPAS, Kanke) for the women or girls who seek help. One of the staff at RINPAS, Kanke, said that “this centre was started in October 2016 and since then it is functioning, generally we get the cases of domestic violence, dowry, rape cases are very less here as it is very far for many victims and many are not aware of this scheme.”
