Ranchi, April 2: The traffic police of Ranchi are continuously working under the scorching heat of summer without proper facilities of water in their traffic post. At many places, the traffic booth itself is missing. The cops are improvising the booth with the help of sacks and flex to provide proper shade.

The traffic posts situated at Jaipal Singh Stadium, Mission Chowk, Plaza Chowk, Karbala chowk and Bahu Bazar Chowk are just a few examples that lack amenities in their posts.

Amit Singh, a traffic policeman, has said that a request has been made to the Ranchi Municipal Corporation for making booths at the traffic posts.

“RMC has to take an initiative in setting up proper traffic posts. We have complained many times regarding this problem. In this scorching heat it is becoming very difficult for us to work,” he said.

The traffic post at Jaipal Singh stadium lacks water facilities in the booth. There is no place to sit. The same situation is at Mission Chowk where the traffic police have to find shade under the umbrellas of the roadside vendors. At Plaza Chowk, the board of traffic police has been put up on a small roadside hotel.

The traffic posts at Karbala Chowk and Bahu Bazar Chowk are also facing the same problems. Traffic Police have made a shade using flex boards and are borrowing chairs from nearby shops to sit.

Barring a few exceptions such as Lalpur Chowk or Firayalal Chowk, majority of traffic Police posts in the city are in a terrible condition and RMC should look into this matter before temperature starts to rise.
