Ranchi, Sept 13: Two prisoners died within 12 hours in Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar on Wednesday.
First, a prisoner named Rahmatullah Ansari committed suicide by slitting his throat, while a prisoner named Ravi Sinha alias Ravi Nandan also died.
Ravi Nandan was brought to RIMS by the jail administration in a critical condition. Doctors declared Ravi Nandan dead. The body of the deceased prisoner has been kept in the RIMS mortuary. The post-mortem of the body will be done under the supervision of a magistrate.
Ravi slit his own throat, but his family alleged that he has been murdered.
Earlier, a prisoner named Rahmatullah Ansari, lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail, committed suicide by slitting his throat. In this case too, the family members of the deceased prisoner alleged that Rahmatullah was murdered in jail by slitting his throat.
On Wednesday, Rahmatullah Ansari was admitted to RIMS in critical condition by the jail administration where he died during treatment. Rahmatullah was originally a resident of Husir under the Kanke police station area. Kanke police arrested him on April 2, 2022, and sent him to jail on charges of stealing a car.
