Ranchi, August 8: An unauthorised structure which has been built between quarter number C/26 and Ty/II/3 at north settlement has become a matter of concern for the Railway authorities at Ranchi rail division.

In this regard, a letter has been sent by the office of SSE, SE Railway to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on August 3 to take the necessary steps in removing the unauthorised structure.

However, Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth has challenged the office of SSE and said that if the DRM has enough courage then try to stop it.

As per the information, in the midst of this order by the Railways, artists from Kolkata have been constructing the Puja Pandal for the last 20 days. These artists have also made about half the puja pandal. Around Rs 30 lakh is being spent on the pandal this year.

Earlier, the pandal was built right in front of the main gate of the Ranchi railway station. But, due to the expansion of the station, it was shifted back in 2018.

Ranchi senior DCM Nishant Kumar informed lagatar24.com that Railways has no objection with regard to the pooja pandal that has been set up in the compound for the last many years. The only concern is the unauthorised structure that has been built on railway land.

“As we all are aware of the redevelopment of the Ranchi railway that has been planned by the government. In this regard, the whole compound will be redeveloped and construction will take place. Hence, setting up any unauthorised structure on railway premises is not a good thing and it will be destroyed. Moreover, Railway authorities were not informed regarding the construction of any structure,” the DCM said.

He added that many railway employees are part of the Durga Puja committee and have always been cooperative when it comes to setting up the Durga puja pandal.

A total of Rs 447 crore will be spent for the redevelopment of the Ranchi railway station which will have world-class passenger amenities including a food court, executive lounge, cafeteria, air-conditioned waiting halls etc. for ensuring ease of movement as well as the comfort of the passengers.
